Blue entry of entry level luxury from 1994 edition.
I have to vote for the A4, since I've got a '97 and nobody expects it to be that old. I also wish mine was blue.
Which one of these cars aged the best and why?
1. The 1994 Mercedes C (Insert various letters and numbers here)
2. The 1994 BMW 342473285734534050345ixixiixixii38543543
3. The 1994 Audi Piece Of Paper.

I vote for the piece of paper.

This one.

I've got to go with the Audi. They have a tendency to gradually evolve their styling over time rather that introducing a totally new design language every few generations. That one is 20 years old but might be mistaken for 10, provided it's been maintained properly.

Half of the A4 and half of the BMW.....?
![]() 03/03/2015 at 19:48 |

That's what I love about mine. Some simple refreshers can easily take 10 years off if done properly. Coilovers, one piece lights, double din and upgraded various bits and it's easily a much newer car.

The Bimmer is still attractive to this day. The Audi looks boring and the Merc is in between.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 19:50 |

I find the Benz to look the worst, looks ancient compared to the other two.

The bmw is starting to show its age.
Badly, imo.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 19:51 |
|
Agreed, I'm not a huge fan of how squared off it looks.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 19:54 |

Definitely the Audi.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 19:54 |

While I think the Merc looks the best, the Audi looks like a modern economy car, so that has aged better.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 19:57 |

This is truth.

BMW, all the 1994 A4s I see have are yellow headlights, and some form of cosmetic damage, I haven't really seen a 'clean' one in a while. Where as I see more of the older BMWs in better condition.

Bimmer

The BMW only because BMW style has changed the least.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 20:01 |

Aged as in the styling, not the condition of the cars.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 20:02 |

Then probably the A4.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 20:04 |

The Mercedes

Wild card!
4.) 1994 Cadillac Seville STS (yes this really was their smallest car in '94)
Before you make fun- you got a hell of a lot more car for your dollar back in the day- we're talking 295 American freedom stallions compared to the wimpy lil socialist sewing machines under yer jackbooted freedom hating hoods. How many trip computers do you have? This big bitch has 2! And how many notes does your horn have? This baby's got 3! Power everything? Power everything. Cassette, CD player? Why choose! You can load 12- count em- TWELVE CDs in at a time! You want a finger snipper trunk you don't gotta slam? You got a finger snipper trunk you don't gotta slam! One touch open, too! You can't dick around with these pop-then-lift trunks when that gavonne that owes you a Vig is walkin' through the trump Taj Mahal parking lot right at ya! While those faggy lil your-o-peein' numbers might have things like "good handling" or "thoughts about long term reliability", the Seville STS has swagger. It takes risks! You wanna be a sheep, or a shark? Seville STS: the car for sharks. (More specifically loan sharks [alleged])

Comical writing laced with utter truth. Well done.

Ughhhhh, it's true. Baller status will never be achieved with the Germans, the seats will never be cushy enough for proper baby making procedures and the trunk will never be large enough for the Big Bertha of hookers.

I think he meant in terms of styling.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 20:18 |

I had a 1995 as my first car. Dark Adriatic Blue over Blue Leather. I remember it to this day, the way she smelled and drove. I miss her.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 20:18 |
|
One of these two. Merc is nice but old-fashioned.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 20:19 |
|
Agreed, it looks much older.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 20:23 |

I've said it before and I'll say it again- no car in the world can replicate that feeling you get with a wreath and crest (sometimes just crest) on the wheel in front of you. That's Cadillac Swagger. That's the realization that maybe driving dynamics and precision engineering aren't everything. Sometimes it's all about how a car makes you feel.

I know. So?
![]() 03/03/2015 at 20:28 |

Very well, just making sure you knew...
![]() 03/03/2015 at 20:31 |

E36... But I'm probably biased, I have a black 94 sedan that I wish was blue
I really want to like the a4 but those ugly ass lights on either side of the license plate annoy me every time I see one on the road
![]() 03/03/2015 at 20:31 |

BMW,
Merc looks OK...
The Passat looks like a Passat, err...

And all that black and gray plastic...
![]() 03/03/2015 at 20:43 |

The C. Stately, elegant lines are timeless. It has the perfect blend of curves and crisp lines. While I like the A4's styling, it looks too 1990s to me. So does the Bimmer.
But Benz still does big grilles with head and taillights shaped just like the '94 C-Class's.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 20:44 |

Yup, can't stand that stuff when it gets extra faded.

they're just too damn German to have any fun.

None of the above?
![]() 03/03/2015 at 21:27 |

Haha, I guess you can go for that.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 21:45 |

a4. The b5 platform was timeless. Garbage for reliability...but timeless
![]() 03/03/2015 at 21:46 |

Don't forget the 2.8!

i had a buddy with the an a4 2.8 and aside from the usuals of control arms bushings, lights and general electronic issues (like a crapped out abs computer) he also had the crankcase breather issue
![]() 03/03/2015 at 21:56 |
|
The crankcase breather hose? I don't think that's a very common one.
They're good cars, a little on the expensive side to maintain (and gas up) but they do look damn fine.
![]() 03/03/2015 at 21:59 |

we had a b5 passat 1.8t i was thrilled to be rid of, but it was nice when it worked.

Haha, sounds about right.

have you driven a FERD lately?

I do like the Merc. But those caps on the Audi. No.

I love those STS's! And, wierdly, I used to work down the street from the dealer where that picture came from.

Benz!
![]() 03/04/2015 at 22:55 |

With the grey bumpers, the E36 looks downright tatty. The color keyed bumpers look miles better. However....
...nothing beats the A4 when it comes to timeless styling. I have to concede to the piece of paper with four rings on it even if I do like the E36 a lot
![]() 03/04/2015 at 22:57 |
|
Agreed, the A4 still looks great. Especially a cactus green Avant.
![]() 03/04/2015 at 23:09 |
|
And when it comes to interiors, you can put a B5 interior in an A3 and it'll still look good
Granted, this is an RS4 interior but the E36 M3 interior just had a fancier wheel and some ///M bits
![]() 03/04/2015 at 23:20 |
|
Audi. Paint the bumper matte black between the grille and lower intake for the modern Edsel/audi/Mitsubishi look, add some LEDs, newer wheels, and it'll look like a contemporary model.
![]() 03/04/2015 at 23:22 |
|
Substitute answer: 1994 RX-7, because still looks damn fine.
![]() 03/04/2015 at 23:25 |

Looks like a B6 wheel on a facelift model there, probably an '01 or so with some OEM+ stuff.
The interior is great to say the least, my '97 has this really nice dark blue kodiak leather that's shown it's age remarkably. No cracking, fading, tearing. It looks the same as it would 150k and 17 years ago. The entire interior is amazingly solid, well puttogether and high quality. Real wood on the dash, dual heated seats, power mirrors and drivers seat. Everything is great inside, not even including the 3 spoke sport wheel with really great bolstering at the bottom and top of the wheel.

You know what you should do next?
Audi A6 (C5)
BMW 5 Series (E39)
Mercedes Benz E-Class (W210)
